What is a hacker? Unfortunately the term has taken on a negative connotation recently. Most people think of the hacker is a nefarious individual (or individuals) breaking into computer systems, stealing credit cards and/or identities. Hacker originally meant someone who was skilled in understanding technolgy, taking it apart, modifying it and making it perform in new and improved ways. What most people think of hackers are actually “crackers” in the sense they crack into systems maliciously often destroying files. Be aware that some of our most creative, innovative tech pioneers were once hackers. Such as Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, Mark Zuckerberg and far too many to mention. Fear not the hacker!
I am a geek and I think I’ve been a geek most of my life. Just didn’t know it. “The word geek is a slang term originally used to describe eccentric or non-mainstream people; in current use, the word typically connotes an expert or enthusiast or a person obsessed with a hobby or intellectual pursuit, with a general pejorative meaning of a “peculiar person, especially one who is perceived to be overly intellectual, unfashionable, or socially awkward”… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geek
